Citrus Elementary, established in 1967, successfully participated in the pilot program of the Indian River County School District to develop a School Improvement Team. We began by developing a vision and mission statement with input from parents, students and business leaders in our community. That vision is: "Guiding today's children to become tomorrow's leaders." Our vision of the future leaves behind 19th century methodology and offers a challenging, individualized, educational setting in which students will have the opportunity to participate in non-traditional, creative programs. Classes begin at 8:40 a.m. and conclude at 3:10.m. Dismissal is at 1:40 p.m. on Wednesdays to accommodate the “early release” day. Before School Program begins at 7:00 a.m. and lasts until 8:00 a.m. ($5 per week) Extended Day Program begins directly after school until 6:00. Fee is $5.00 per day.
