We at Elders In Touch realize that people in various stages of health and old age need varying types of care. We feel that Assisted Living Facilities are the answer for active adults. Simply stated,

Our home is designed for elderly or mildly mentally impaired who are unable to maintain their own homes (may be forgetful or a little unsteady), yet are not helpless. Our residents:

          share a home environment
          continue to live with dignity

          receive loving care & attention
Ongoing domestic and medical assistance is provided by our 24-hour staff. Housing, food and staff is included in one monthly fee.

Various Levels of Care

Problems with various levels of Care:

Institutional Care: Generally chosen
as a last step for the very ill. Institutions
also house patients who are physically
vital, mentally aware, yet are becoming forgetful. People who do not need
nursing home can become depressed
in that environment. They are exposed
to confusion, helplessness and the
frequent death of others.

In Home Care: Often chosen to avoid institutional care. This type of care
offers limited social interaction and
can be expensive. It is difficult to find
stable, competent employees, therefore, turnover of staff often becomes a
problem and scheduling can be complex.
If the family is not there to help, this
level of care can be overwhelming.

Living With Family: Most elders
resist this alternative, because they
do not want to lose their independence.
The patient often loses esteem and feels
as though he or she has become a bur-
den to their family. This can be very
stressful for all people involved.
